The elongated back panel carved in relief with facial mask, scrolled acanthus and rosettes, below an openwork crest of two birds, raised on barley twist supports and joined by arm rests with carved figural lion's heads terminals. 52.5 inches × 25.5 inches × 22 inches.

This armchair is completely restored, with rebuilt upholstered sections covered in coarse French silk upholstery. The seat is raised upon cabriole legs carved knees terminating in whirled ball toes.

This specimen features a deeply pierced scrolling back comprised of a single plank of oak, intricately carved with openwork C-scrolls, acanthus leaves, and a central plumed or shell-like motif. The elegant carved armrests and cabriole legs are adorned with matching relief carvings, terminating in claw and ball feet with brass castors.
